Catching Fire Review!!!

Hello!!
I'm very sorry for the wait, I have been very busy!
But now,  I PRESENT... MY CATCHING FIRE MOVIE REVIEW!!!!
District 12
Cinemablend.com

*WARNING, SPOILERS!!*
Just to save time, I will quote the movie plot summary from IMDb (I fixed some spelling errors):
A year after winning the 74th Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen and her partner, Peeta Mellark must go on what is known as the Victor's Tour wherein they visit all the districts. But before leaving, Katniss is visited by President Snow who fears that Katniss defied him a year ago during the games when she chose to die with Peeta. With both Katniss and Peeta declared the winners, it is fueling a possible uprising. He tells Katniss that while on tour she better try to make sure that she puts out the flames or else everyone she cares about will be in danger. But unfortunately she fails to do that. So Snow decides to enact what is known as the Quarter Quell, the right to make a change to the Hunger Games, which he is allowed to do every 25 years. He decides to hold an edition of the Hunger Games wherein previous winners will compete again. Their mentor Haymitch thinks their best chance to survive is form an alliance with some of the others. They decide to align themselves with Finnick and his partner, Mags. But Snow is secretly hoping Katniss will be killed.

I though that this movie was very well made, and it stayed very true to the book! The only main parts that they missed out were:

-Madge or the District 12 Mayor were not mentioned at all.
-Since Madge or the Mayor weren't in the movie, Katniss found out about the beginning of the rebellion from some peace keepers watching top secret footage in a room on the victory tour train. Katniss sees the footage through a crack in the door.
-Peeta doesn't have a fake leg. If you watch the first movie, by the end of his time in the arena, he doesn't look that injured; he just has some scratches and a limp. In the book however, Peeta is bleeding to death, and is finding it hard to not let himself go unconscious.
-Katniss doesn't meet Bonnie and Twill at all and she doesn't hear that much about District 13 except when President Snow is talking to he in her home, and he says something along the lines of, 'you don't want district 12 to be like district 13; hidden away under the ground, like it never existed'. After he says this, Katniss makes a quizzical look, but doesn't question it.
-Also, in the book, when they are in the arena, the group gets sent bread each day, and it is actually a secret code about when to break out of the arena. In the movie, none of this happens.

I probably thought of more, but I can't think of them right now...

A difference between the first movie and the second, is the about of humor. In the first, I don't really remember laughing at all; but in the second, I found myself laughing to many funny scenes!
I did previously include a video of one of my favorite scenes, but it has been blocked by LionsGate because of copyright restrictions. Here is a GIF version... I tried to get most of the stuff in the scene in order....

#DatFaceKatniss

Here are the things I liked about the movie:

-The cast were chosen perfectly
-Whole paragraphs were almost exactly quoted from the book
-The movie stayed pretty true to the book
-Johanna is now my favorite character because of all her sass! In the book, I didn't really like her, but in the movie, she is PERFECT!!
-How in the beginning, when Katniss is hunting with gale, and she shoots a turkey, you can she the emotional and mental toll, the Hunger Games took on her. Right when she shoots the turkey, she has a flash back, and she thinks she has just shot marvel again, at this point she starts freaking out. Even though this didn't happen in the book, it shows how much she was affected by the games.
-The whole movie style was actually pretty good! In the arena, the camera is much more stable in the second movie then in the first. In the first, the camera was very shaky and some people were even complaining of motion sickness! In the second one, the camera shots were much more smooth, but there were parts when the camera was a bit shaky, but in these times, it really complemented it. THANK YOU FRANCIS LAWRENCE FOR FIXING THIS!!!
-A lot of little details from the book were retained (e.g. the cookie Peeta decorated that snow ate at Katniss' house
-Even though she wasn't mentioned in the books until the end of Mockingjay; I love how Snow's Granddaughter idolizes Katniss by wearing her hair in a braid, and by saying things like, "I want to love someone that much when I'm older" when Katniss hugs Peeta, after he is saved by Finnick
  • -Jennifer Lawrence's acting in Catching Fire seemed more real then it did in Hunger Games. In Hunger Games, she did have a few kind of real crying moments; but in Catching Fire, Jennifer portrayed some facial expressions that were pretty real. Looks of disgust, shock, horror, sadness, etc. (e.g. elevator scene, District 11 scene where the man is shot, etc)
  • -Costume design was amazing especially the butterfly reaping outfit worn by Effie, and a lot of Katniss' casual clothes. I will include a picture right here of some of the ones I'm talking about.
  • -Johanna's speech during the interviews!! It was so funny!! XD
  • -At the very end of the movie, it shows the logo for the Hunger Games, it then transforms into the Catching Fire logo... AND THEN.. It transforms into the Mockingjay logo!! AHHH!! That was so good!! :)

I give the movie, 9.5 stars out of 10, only because of the fact that, they could have still included the thing with the bread inside the arena, but they didn't....

And thats about it...
Well... I hope you enjoyed!

The next post is going to be my top 10 of November... I know that it is almost half-way through December.... but... well, better late then never! :)
I will be posting more often now too, because it is the Christmas holidays!

My MUST HAVE list for the movies!! :)

Hello!
As I am seeing Catching Fire tomorrow, (ERMAGERD!!!) I am going to share my must have list for movies, so the stuff you should bring! :)
So let's get started!!

www.simplyrecipies.com
Snacks
First of all, you need movie snacks!! I prefer getting the snacks at a super market because they are normally really expensive at the movie snack bar, and can be up to 3 times the price at a super market!!  Movie snacks I would recommend are Adjita's Vege Chips, especially the sweet and sour flavor, 'cause it's my favorite!
Sweet & Sour
www.shop.coles.com.au
Another common one I bring to the movies is sweet and salty popcorn! I would normally have a packet in the house, ready to go to the movies. I prefer a particular brand, but I can't remember the name at this moment, though, even home brand is fine.

www.visualphotos.com
Drinks
Another thing to bring to movies is drinks! Once again, I would recommend buying this from a supermarket, or even from Macca's as it is much cheaper there! It's okay to take soft drink now and then, but when you do, make sure you bring a bottle of water with you! Salty chips, popcorn or even chocolate can dry your mouth out; that is why you should bring some water, because nothing is as fresh and hydrating!

www.newblackwoman.com

Tissues
Don't you hate it when you go to see a sad movie, and you cry everywhere? The chances are, you have ruined your makeup and made a mess! That is my I recommend taking a little travel pack of tissues with you to every movie you go to, just in case!

www.sodahead.com

Friends!!
I do admit, sometimes it is nice just to go to the movies by yourself, but I would recommend taking friends with me!! It is much more fun, and afterwards you have an automatic topic of conversation! I'm actually taking two of my friends to go see Catching Fire with me!

MY NUMBER ONE TIP WHEN GOING TO THE MOVIES!!
Make sure you get there early, even though the ads are boring, you want to get the best seats don't you? And if you go to a cinema where there is allocated seating, make sure you sit in the right seats! I think that it is really annoying when you get to your seats, but someone has moved into them to get a 'better view'.
 JUST DON'T DO IT!!

That's all from me!
see you tomorrow for a picture and a video!!!! YES, A VIDEO!!! A HOME MADE ONE!!
Yay!

Week of CATCHING FIRE!!

Hello! :)

GUESS WHAT?!?! It's the week of Catching Fire! Everyday this week, I will post something related to Hunger Games or Catching Fire! Then, on Saturday, I'll be watching Catching Fire, and I will do a movie review the next day! YAY!

Today's Catching Fire post is about some of my favorite Jennifer Lawrence quotes.
www.sodahead.com
Jennifer Lawrence is one of my most favorite actresses, and I think that she is because she is so relatable and isn't as perfect as other actresses; she actually seems like a human being! She isn't afraid to admit to scoffing a whole pizza in front of the TV, she isn't afraid to make an idiot of herself on TV, she is just being herself. Interviews with Jennifer are the funniest ever, because she just says what she wants. She says some pretty inspirational stuff, and she also says some pretty stupid stuff too, but she really speaks her mind.
In this post, I am including some of my favorite quotes from her! :)

"I always feel like an idiot every time I fly first class because I'm a kid. And I just sit there, and everyone's got their newspapers and they're on the computer, and I'm like, 'Can I get a colouring book, please? Can I get some crayons?'" -  on Jimmy Fallon
One thing I love about her is that she is in her 20's, but she still can act like a kid. When someone can do that, it means they have kept all the good qualities of being a kid; having a great sense of humor, isn't afraid to have fun, says the most silliest things and the smallest things can make them happy.

www.socialtechwork.tumblr.com
Hahaha! One of my post favourite GIFs of all time! Jennifer just makes everything relate to food, and for teens, who look up to her, that is a very relatable thing!

On eating a raw fish in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire: "They kept saying 'It's sushi-grade!' And I'm like... 'Put some soy sauce on this. Get me some rice. And cook it. And then get me out of here.'" - Comic Con
Jennifer Lawrence is also not afraid to tell the world that acting isn't always as good as it seems! XD

www.favething.com
This is one of the most amazing quotes from her! From this quote, you can see that she really wants to be a good role model for teen and pre-teen girls!

"Not to sound rude, but [acting] is stupid. Everybody's like, 'How can you remain with a level head?' And I'm like, 'Why would I ever get cocky? I'm not saving anybody's life. There are doctors who save lives and firemen who run into burning buildings. I'm making movies. It's stupid.'" - Vanity Fair
Jennifer always talks like acting isn't the most important thing in the world; and it isn't. It is just something she is REALLY good at, and she works on it as her career.

Anyway, that's all for today! Tomorrow's post features my all-time fave Hunger Games/Catching Fire memes!

See you then!!

M is for Mortal Instruments and Music

Hello!
As you may have known, recently a movie version of the book 'Mortal Instruments: City of Bones' has come out in the cinema. Recently I watched it and I loved it! I had read the book and I am currently reading the second one. I decided I would do my first movie review!! Also recently, I heard a particular song, and I had to share it with you! :)In this blog post, I will do a movie review. It is not going to be an officially formatted movie review: I'm just going to write stuff about it!
*Spoilers*
I really liked the movie, but it wasn't as good as the book; as usual. I think that the cast were chosen very well, except for a few exceptions. Robert Sheehan (Simon) played his character well, but I don't think that he looked geeky enough. Also, Simon could have made some really clever nerdy comments or references during the movie. It would have made the movie better, but it wouldn't have made it any longer. Jonathan Rhys Meyers (Valentine) was casted perfectly but I wanted his character to be more proper and Politian like. Also, what is with his dreadlocks?? Is he meant to be a pirate? If there is a second movie, they need to get rid of the dreads!!
But I must say when Clary (Lilly Collins) wakes up and there are hundreds of pieces of paper with this one symbol on them stuck to the walls, it kinda felt like some horror movie. That was soon replaced with the normal supernatural stuff.
My highlights of the movie were when the door slams and Joyclyn exclaimes, “Jesus!”, and Simon comes around the corner and says, “no, it’s just me..”. This is one of my favourite scenes!
Costumes were also very cool! My favourite was Jace’s! He looked very cool in his Shadowhunter outfit! :)
My major bone to pick with this movie is that throughout the whole movie, it was always, 'Jace saves the day'. In two parts of the movie, Jace has saved the day, where in the book, someone else does. In the part where the greater demon is attacking. In the book, Simon bursts in with a crossbow, and shoots a covered skylight. The light then makes the greater demon go back to the underworld or where ever they came from. In the movie, Simon helps, but Jace saves the day. The other example of this happening in the movie is right at the beginning, where Clary is fighting the Ravener Demon, Jace ends up saving the day. In the book, Clary shoves a demon hunting device down the demon's throat. Jace doesn't help at all! These parts in the book help create the character who they are. Clary becomes a fighter, someone who has a chance against demons. Simon becomes a hero, he isn't just the mundane who is always in the way. He is there to save them instead of Jace. The movie just ruins it!
Apart from that, the movie was still good. It was so good, I want to see it again! 7 out of 10 stars!

*End of Spoilers*
Now,
I would like to show you a song that I have just found out about! This was a song, made by a real band, but it wasn't meant for people to take it seriously. Now it is becoming more and more popular! Here it is:

The next one is a song for Catching Fire by Coldplay. It's called 'Atlas'! I LOVE the video! Here it is!

Well, I better go! My laptop is running out of battery.. XD

K is for Killer Performance

Hello :)
This week's post topic is: K is for Killer Performance!
I have a few videos of some amazing performances!
First up is a very recent one. If you are outside of Australia, well, Australia has a TV show called X Factor. I think a few other countries have it to. Anyway, a few days ago a woman sang on there and she did Thriller by Micheal Jackson. It was amazing! I'm going to show it to you now.... :)

Next, I have a cute video of a little kid called Kai, who sings Bruno Mars' songs. In the next video is him meeting Ellen, and the one after that is him and his girlfriend, Ellen.

Isn't he cute??? :)

J is for Joyful!! (how to be!)

Hello!
J is for JOYFUL!!!
This post is inspired by an article on News.com.au! The article features "ways to change your mood from 'f*** off' to fabulous"
Do you want to be happy today? Photo by Lusi
In this post I pick my favourites and easiest ways to brighten your mood!

1. SOAK UP SOME SUN!

Get some vitamin D! especially in winter! One reason why people often feel flat in the colder months is that they are lacking in vitamin d. Pull up your sleeves when you are driving, spend your lunch hour outside! Use every oppertunity you get to get some sunshine. But, CAREFUL! you dont want to get sunburnt, use sunscreen in the warmer months.
Enjoy the sun! Photo by Arinas74

2. DANCE!!
Dancing is great exercise, and you don't need to go anywhere, dance in your bedroom, dance in the super market, dance in the middle of the street!! ... well, maybe not in the  MIDDLE of the street! :P Dancing can work your body very hard and after an energetic dance, you may find yourself puffing and sweating! Any type of dancing is good, as long as it is energetic! Zumba is a great form of dancing that is actually really fun and your exhausted at the end.... which is a very good thing! :)
Dancing is good for your soul! :)
So, get some sun and do some dancing and you will feel much better!! Make sure you drink lots of water too! you don't want to be dehydrated!
See you next week,
Nerdling :)
