Catching Fire Review!!!

Hello!!
I'm very sorry for the wait, I have been very busy!
But now,  I PRESENT... MY CATCHING FIRE MOVIE REVIEW!!!!
District 12
Cinemablend.com

*WARNING, SPOILERS!!*
Just to save time, I will quote the movie plot summary from IMDb (I fixed some spelling errors):
A year after winning the 74th Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen and her partner, Peeta Mellark must go on what is known as the Victor's Tour wherein they visit all the districts. But before leaving, Katniss is visited by President Snow who fears that Katniss defied him a year ago during the games when she chose to die with Peeta. With both Katniss and Peeta declared the winners, it is fueling a possible uprising. He tells Katniss that while on tour she better try to make sure that she puts out the flames or else everyone she cares about will be in danger. But unfortunately she fails to do that. So Snow decides to enact what is known as the Quarter Quell, the right to make a change to the Hunger Games, which he is allowed to do every 25 years. He decides to hold an edition of the Hunger Games wherein previous winners will compete again. Their mentor Haymitch thinks their best chance to survive is form an alliance with some of the others. They decide to align themselves with Finnick and his partner, Mags. But Snow is secretly hoping Katniss will be killed.

I though that this movie was very well made, and it stayed very true to the book! The only main parts that they missed out were:

-Madge or the District 12 Mayor were not mentioned at all.
-Since Madge or the Mayor weren't in the movie, Katniss found out about the beginning of the rebellion from some peace keepers watching top secret footage in a room on the victory tour train. Katniss sees the footage through a crack in the door.
-Peeta doesn't have a fake leg. If you watch the first movie, by the end of his time in the arena, he doesn't look that injured; he just has some scratches and a limp. In the book however, Peeta is bleeding to death, and is finding it hard to not let himself go unconscious.
-Katniss doesn't meet Bonnie and Twill at all and she doesn't hear that much about District 13 except when President Snow is talking to he in her home, and he says something along the lines of, 'you don't want district 12 to be like district 13; hidden away under the ground, like it never existed'. After he says this, Katniss makes a quizzical look, but doesn't question it.
-Also, in the book, when they are in the arena, the group gets sent bread each day, and it is actually a secret code about when to break out of the arena. In the movie, none of this happens.

I probably thought of more, but I can't think of them right now...

A difference between the first movie and the second, is the about of humor. In the first, I don't really remember laughing at all; but in the second, I found myself laughing to many funny scenes!
I did previously include a video of one of my favorite scenes, but it has been blocked by LionsGate because of copyright restrictions. Here is a GIF version... I tried to get most of the stuff in the scene in order....

Here are the things I liked about the movie:

-The cast were chosen perfectly
-Whole paragraphs were almost exactly quoted from the book
-The movie stayed pretty true to the book
-Johanna is now my favorite character because of all her sass! In the book, I didn't really like her, but in the movie, she is PERFECT!!
-How in the beginning, when Katniss is hunting with gale, and she shoots a turkey, you can she the emotional and mental toll, the Hunger Games took on her. Right when she shoots the turkey, she has a flash back, and she thinks she has just shot marvel again, at this point she starts freaking out. Even though this didn't happen in the book, it shows how much she was affected by the games.
-The whole movie style was actually pretty good! In the arena, the camera is much more stable in the second movie then in the first. In the first, the camera was very shaky and some people were even complaining of motion sickness! In the second one, the camera shots were much more smooth, but there were parts when the camera was a bit shaky, but in these times, it really complemented it. THANK YOU FRANCIS LAWRENCE FOR FIXING THIS!!!
-A lot of little details from the book were retained (e.g. the cookie Peeta decorated that snow ate at Katniss' house
-Even though she wasn't mentioned in the books until the end of Mockingjay; I love how Snow's Granddaughter idolizes Katniss by wearing her hair in a braid, and by saying things like, "I want to love someone that much when I'm older" when Katniss hugs Peeta, after he is saved by Finnick
  • -Jennifer Lawrence's acting in Catching Fire seemed more real then it did in Hunger Games. In Hunger Games, she did have a few kind of real crying moments; but in Catching Fire, Jennifer portrayed some facial expressions that were pretty real. Looks of disgust, shock, horror, sadness, etc. (e.g. elevator scene, District 11 scene where the man is shot, etc)
  • -Costume design was amazing especially the butterfly reaping outfit worn by Effie, and a lot of Katniss' casual clothes. I will include a picture right here of some of the ones I'm talking about.
  • -Johanna's speech during the interviews!! It was so funny!! XD
  • -At the very end of the movie, it shows the logo for the Hunger Games, it then transforms into the Catching Fire logo... AND THEN.. It transforms into the Mockingjay logo!! AHHH!! That was so good!! :)

I give the movie, 9.5 stars out of 10, only because of the fact that, they could have still included the thing with the bread inside the arena, but they didn't....

And thats about it...
Well... I hope you enjoyed!

The next post is going to be my top 10 of November... I know that it is almost half-way through December.... but... well, better late then never! :)
I will be posting more often now too, because it is the Christmas holidays!

Bye! :)
